Instagram hiding likes. Here’s what you should do as a business person.
My friend called me yesterday panicked...
I have no likes! How can I see my reach? How do I know what's going on. I assured her all is well, and this is what she should focus on next...
So yesterday I got a call from a good friend of mine that was freaking out because Instagram is hiding likes. And now when she's looking at her stories and she's looking at her posts... she used to get 200 likes and now it's about 20-50 and she's just going crazy saying 'What's going on? Nobody's seen my stuff...'
So first of all, YES, Instagram is hiding the likes. And who cares guys, really? Who cares?
All these vanity numbers don't mean anything. I shared with her the story of this influencer who had 2.6 million followers and could not sell 32 shirts... so those are vanity numbers. If you got 150 likes or views or something like that, it doesn't matter if nobody is taking action!
So what you as a business owner should focus on...
is not how many impressions you get, how many hearts you get, how many likes you get, because you can't pay rent with that stuff, right. It doesn't mean much! Impressions don't mean sales, they don't mean clicks, they don't mean action.
These stuff don't matter...
What really matters is how many people are opting in to your funnel or to your email, how many people are calling you, how many people are DM-ing you (sending you direct messages), actually talking to you, how many people are sharing... that is even more important than their likes! How many people are commenting, what engagement is happening on your content and on your stuff - that's the most important part because that means that you are making an impact, people are listening and not just scrolling.
I love this move by Facebook I understand why a lot of people are freaking out, cuz 'OMG, how will I prove my influence?' Well, if you are influential those numbers don't really play a part, it doesn't mean anything. If you're influencers, you'll say something and people will take action... like Gary Vee.
Gary Vee has a very loyal audience... when he moved to TikTok, he just took his audience with him, right. If he moves to YouTube, he takes his audience with him. It doesn't matter how many likes he gets - he has a loyal audience that shares, that shows up, that buys from him, that spreads the word, that interacts and engages with him And that's why he's an influencer not because of those vanity numbers.
So as a business owner what you should what should you focus on? You want to grow your business, you want to grow your visibility, you want to grow your reach, and you want to grow your cells. You want your bank account to reflect the impact that you're making in the world.
So what should you focus on as a business owner now that have disappeared... what you should have because focusing on is two words...
Why? A lot of people are saying that customer experience is going to be the next differentiator in the upcoming decade which is a few weeks away. But in the upcoming decade what will differentiate you between all your competitors because everybody can spend money on ads and branding, and looking good, and looking like a million bucks... What will this change? The impact that you make in the world, in your business and everything else is the experience that your customers are getting from you!

What they care about is... money. People are coming to Amazon. What are they buying? If people are buying from you, then they'll raise your product in the Amazon search place. As a business, don't focus on vanity numbers, it doesn't really matter... what matters is the relationship that you have with your clients! So don't worry about Instagram and all that stuff. It doesn't matter at the end of the day! What matters is how many people are in your email list, how many people are sharing, how many people are interacting, how many people are buying and how many people are referring?
